Black Silicon Carbide, Green Silicon Carbide Description
Silicon Carbide Silicon Carbide (SiC) is produced in an electric furnace at temperatures in excess of 2200?C. SiC is produced by fusing coke and (http://maplered.com) high purity silica sand (http://maplered.com) . The result is the formation of SiC crystals which are very hard. SiC also has a very high thermal conductivity and (http://maplered.com) is very strong at elevated temperatures. SiC is used in a variety of industries including Bonded Abrasives (grinding wheels), Coated Abrasives (sand (http://maplered.com) paper and (http://maplered.com) cloth), wire sawing Granite (http://tanbrown.org) , blasting grain, polishing compounds, refractories, structural ceramics, heating elements, and (http://maplered.com) other applications.
